MDB: First bloom of the season

We were surprised to find a couple buds in 'atroviolacea' yesterday, and this
morning they are open.  This is early--last year it was Apr. 19, the year
before Apr. 22--but we are surprised it didn't come even earlier.  Everything
else seems at least 2 weeks ahead of normal, even more in some cases.
Whatever the reason, this is early enough for us.  Normally we will have one
or 2 killing frosts yet, even in early May.
