A while back we had some discussion about 'ease' of germination,
possibility that there might be differences in which colors germinate
the first year versus the second in crosses that take more than one year
to germinate.
So far, all but one of the PINK FORMAL X CELEBRATION SONG seedlings have
been pink. Some are lighter pink than others. The single non-pink was
a white rebloomer. Half a dozen seedlings so far.
Only two of the second year germinants have bloomed so far - one is
pink, the other is a pink/lavender bicolor.
These are mostly pretty awful - sick foliage, short, no substance, small
blooms, weak stalks, few buds etc etc. But it's been fun to have a
bunch of pinks blooming.
Speaking of pinks, will try to remember to post a photo of the big clump
of LAURA JEAN in bloom. What a horrid mess! No wonder I'd never heard
of this iris before. oog.
