I am so sorry to hear of the cold weather in the mid-west. I hope the  
Convention will not be adversely affected. We are very lucky here in northern  
California. Weather has been wonderful and tall bearded maiden bloom seedlings  are 
opening all over the place. One discovery has been that New Day Dawning has  
given terrible branching on the eight or so crosses I used in on. The pink 
Emma  Cook lines have taken a big step forward as have the red bearded white and 
blue  Emma Cooks. Still less than a quarter of the crosses have bloomed so 
there is  more adventure ahead.
