As time goes by, the irises that didn't get any covering to protect them from the worst of the freezes look worse and worse. Except for IMMORTALITY and possibly HARVEST OF MEMORIES, I doubt any other than the very last of the season bloomers will manage any bloom. & possibly rebloomers, if we get more cool weather.
A few of the unprotected older seedlings have fans with stalks that didn't fall over, but I will be very surprised if they produce anything other than blasted buds.
The good news is that quite a few of the covered plants are going to bloom. And there was some pollen on the potted MULBERRY ECHO, blooming now, that got to stay in the house during the worst of the cold.
Does anybody want still want to see comparison photos of one of my tough seedlings, with and without covers? No blooms open yet, but color showing on several stalks from covered plants. Nothing but ratty looking foliage in the uncovered comparison.
