Hi all,
We're in northern CA/Oakland bay area -- and we've been growing
iris in pots in potting soil here since 1993, somewhere since 1992.
We use minimum size 12" plastic pot, most are 14", 16" and some
20" and some half barrels. We drill 1" holes in the bottom of the
half barrels. But we use Supersoil, which is about as generic as
they come.
We DO occasionally apply some of the iris fertilizer mix from
Superstition.
If you're growing in pots, in fact, you want to use potting soil, or at
least a mix, rather than regular dirt -- iris don't seem to like
being in pots with regular dirt, at least not the regular dirt we've
had access to.
Anyhow, just a note that I don't think you can blame too much on
using potting soil.
Gesine
HI to all those at convention! (I'm home with our kitties)
