Betty, I figure that without the controlled studies Chuck describes, we just keep muddling along. Which takes forever to sort things out. If at all.
In your cycle rebloom seedlings, how often have you had seedlings that bloom mid season or later (i.e., not early) in spring?
Have there been enough of them to see any patterns of breeding? The only cycle rebloomer that I can think of that really fits that pattern here is HARVEST OF MEMORIES, & I haven't grown the ancestors or other relatives enough to know if its timing of rebloom is similar to them or unique to HoM.
Six of the 8 registered descendants of HoM in the online database are M or later, 4 of those 6 are registered as rebloomers.
Any of you know? It might be worth trying to grow some of them to see.So far, my only seedlings from HoM that have rebloomed here have also had IMM on the other side.
<In an ideal situation, I"d like irises of all colors and patterns which start blooming in late August or Sept 1 at the latest (without fail)?and bloom until a very hard freeze, then recover and bloom again in the spring.?
