No, Ellen. Our soil is not frozen -- hasn't been for quite a long time.
We had a thaw, oh, when, a month ago or something and the temperature
has been moderating since. We need a constantly -- night and day-- below
freezing temperature for the soil to freeze as in January. Thankfully.
So, I've been able to poke around for a month. It's just not a good idea.
disturbs roots that are fragile, and worse invites those *&*(&^ fuzzy tailed
(*&^( things to think it's ok to dig arund. they think I put something for
them in there and when they find it's only a plant, they just leave it and
don't put it back in.
WE don't have any ice. the ice laid onthe top 1/2inch each night, but
that'sall... the sun warms enough. the soil here is wonderful for the hand
to sink into... I got my fingernails realllly dirty today. my favorite
garden tool...
I'm blowing my hot air your way!!
