Growing Seasons

Yes, it took some getting used to.  I kills most of the first iris I planted
because I planted them on ridges like I had in Oklahoma, with the tops of the
rhizomes exposed so they wouldn't rot.  They cooked.    

The native plants are things like mesquite, sage, yucca and cactus.  Even the
arils require supplemental water.  My garden is on the mesa overlooking the
Mesilla Valley -- farm country.  Crops include lettuce, onions, chile, cotton,
alfalfa.  But EVERYTHING is irrigated.
