Being from the same town as Sharon McCallister, I can say, sighing, missing
"home", that Elephant Butte lake is VERY large. Each spring they open the
flood gates and allow the water to come into Mesilla valley by way of Radium
Springs dam. The water is fed to canals from that point, to all over the
valley. Sharon is a wealth of information, and I only wish I had known her
when I lived there-- we even worked for the same company!!
