Aril Iris / Sharon McAllister

Sharon McAllister:

Sharon, Carolyn S. may be the only one intelligent enough to ask the right
questions, but there are others that are reading with interest your
experiences with the Arils.

I have never lived in a climate hospitable to the bearded iris group:
central Louisiana and lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
The arils have always been the "orchids of irisdom" to me. I first learned
of them from reading Lloyd Austin's Rainbow Gardens catalogs and later on Tom
Craig's iris catalogs of the early sixties. Those pictures of globular forms
with marks and splashes! My favorite were the ones with the black signals or
black spots as I called them.

My climate is cool and dry from November thru April and wet and humid from
June thru mid October. My soil is sand. How should I grow them? Any
cultivar recommendations? Do you have a Price List?
