The Iris Pond


I want to publicly thank Clarence Mahan for his kindness and generosity.  I 
just happened to see Tom T. Little's post on the rec.gardens newsgroup when 
he started this list.  I have a wide variety of gardening interests, so I 
immediately subscribed and have been more or less lurking since.  When it 
became clear that I could grow certain types of iris in a water bog I'm 
putting in next to my pond, I asked for advice on here.  Clarence Mahan 
offered advice and, when it became apparent that I actually live near him, 
he offered to supply me with the plants to start out.  I picked them up 
Saturday and already have most of them in submerged pots.
  Thank you, Clarence, for taking the time to help a novice such as me. 
 Also, thank you for the generous advice and encouragement.  You can be sure 
that you will be the first invited to see the bog and pond just as soon as
