Thanks for the information. I have very heavy clay soil, and have had
trouble with plants that require good drainage. I killed several dianthus
until I realized that they had to be planted with a lot of sand and lime.
If it likes moisture, I may divide it next year and plant a clump with the
JIs in the swamp. Then at least I can see what it does under different
conditions.
BTW, I know it's hardy because the nursery over-winters their stock in
pots. Anything that can survive -30C (-20F) in a pot is hardy.
