The difference is whether the marketing department has gotten their
hands on the copy yet or not.  ;)

Seriously, though: "fluted" and "frilled" (I think) are just meant to
be more vivid terms for particular types of ruffling and lacing. I doubt
that you could really pin them down very precisely.

Sorry to be glib, but I usually call that pattern "falls darker in the
center with a lighter rim"
