Would anyone on this list be so kind as to look in their 1993 Schreiner's
catalog and tell me the names of the varieties sold that year as the
Heavenly Blues collection?
I purchased them in the Fall of 1993 as a birthday gift for my mother
without the benefit of a catalog. I was prompted to give these as a gift to
my mom because she had such fond memories of dark blue, bearded iris which
grew, seemingly wild, in her backyard as a child. It was this sentimental
gift for my mother which got me on the Schreiner's mailing list and
subsequently got me interested in collecting and growing bearded iris (and
subscribing to the IRIS-L). Those first bearded iris have prospered in my
mom's yard and I got a couple of fans from some of them last Fall (1995).
Alas, these divisions are no longer labeled and now that I am really
interested in growing iris, I would like to identify them if possible.
Actually, reading the IRIS-L has convinced me of the importance of
maintaining labels on named varieties.
Please direct any responses to my e-mail address. I don't think that
everyone on the IRIS-L is interested in the info I'm requesting.
By the way, I like the IRIS-L because:
- It lets me get advice from the pro's for free!
- I can relate to the other people on the list who, apparently, share my
obsession with the plant kingdom.
- where else can you learn about irises and how to cook on alternative
appliances such as exhaust tail pipes and dishwashers? :)
