Getting the most from Iris-L

Some folks who are beginners with irises have expressed dismay
at the intense or esoteric nature of some of the topics on this
list (in fact a few people have left). I hope that *every* subscriber
realizes that this list belongs to YOU. YOU decide what gets talked
about. If you've been reading for two weeks and haven't yet seen
any advice on fertilizing your irises, just ask! Most of us "old
pros" will be happy to show off by answering your questions in
great detail! :)

Some folks are also overwhelmed by the volume of mail and the fact
that not all topics are of interest to them. That's when it's time
to lean on the DELETE key. If you don't care how "pseudacorus" is
pronounced, you're welcome to skip those 457 messages without reading
them!

I've belonged to about a dozen mailing lists (about half that many
currently), and Iris-L is one of the *smallest* lists! No, I don't
spend 24 hours a day reading email. I just get very selective.

So if you feel a little overwhelmed from time to time, or feel that
the list isn't serving your needs as well as it might, just jump in
with what's on YOUR mind, and skip the stuff that you don't need.
An active mailing list will have many conversations going on at once.
You can pick which ones to listen to, or start up your own!

All the best, Tom.

P.S. Of course this only works if people keep those *subject lines*
accurate!
