How to increase Rhizome Offsets ??


        I am very interested in getting MANY increases on certain Iris cultivars
over the short term, even at the expense of Blooms during that period. It seems 
that typically one will get two offsets per blooming rhizome per season (more on
rebloomers), though I have purchased rhizomes which had multiple smaller (marble
sized) offsets on one large rhizome. Are there specific growing conditions which
lead to this i.e. very high nitrogen, more moisture in summer etc. ?

P.S. Visited Maryotts Iris Garden in San Jose this past weekend where about half
the TB's were in full bloom (just in time for the convention).
