     In fact there's a book called Manifold Destiny about cooking on
your car engine -- complete with recipes (with cooking distances). 
     Has anyone tried planting garlic near their irises to keep borers
away!  I planted it at each end of my vegetable garden and had very
little insect infestation.  Don't know if it will work on borers.
