Patty -- Sterling Innerest in York Pa grows his iris in raised bed of almost
pure clay. The secrets are in drainage and little fertilizer. If we were
to take a poll, I wonder how many successful growers would use manure.
Humus like pinebark and stuff to loosen the soil, but manure is high in
nitrogen..... will get great growth, little flowering and lots of rot.
