Re: Sedum groundcover/mulch around irises

	Tom and others,

This is an interesting subject for those of us who grow mainly
beardless varieties....we were cautioned that mulch might lead to
rot - true, but not in my particular garden.

My Japanese Iris are mulched with pine needles all year round and
watered daily on top of that. My Siberians are mulched (loosely)
with pine needles from Nov. until May 1st. and they are watered
	several times a week.

I grow JI and SI in perennial beds but I do have one exclusively
JI bed. I have peonies, veronica, coreopsis, coral bells, lavender,
	 dianthus, bleeding-hearts, poppies, ajuga,daylilies, etc.growing
WITH my beardless cultivars in eight beds and I hope to add three
more this year. I mulch everything except lilies.

I grow flowers and iris is one of my favorites....I can't imagine
gardening without lilacs, hostas, blueberries.....or irises.
