Hello,
There is a difference in what different color Iris leaves are in different
varieties and species. The Aril's do like more fertlizer and lime then other
irises,it was only when I increased my fertlizing both at time of planting and
then agin when they were about one fourth in bloom I gave them a very good
drenching of 30-10-10 and at 3/4 bloom annother good drenching of 20-20-20.
Each time using about an 8 oz cup in a 5 gallon pail of water to each 4 to 5
square feet of bed.
Here the Aril's like the soil to be at a PH of 7.5 t0 8 which takes a lot more
lime then the tall bearded. It's like us eating steak or hamburger the richer
our taste the more we enjoy steak or if a vegetable the fresher out of the
garden the better.
So if you are growing the probally should be seperated from the tall bearded.
The Arilbreds will grow with the tall bearded but will allso resond beeter to
a little more fertlizer then what you might give the tall bearded.
