As Dennis points out, it really depends on the kind of camera you
purchased. A real cheapo will not handle slide film well, and you will be
limited due to various things like setting the camera for the proper ASA
rating of the film, limited or no f-stop, and/or no ability to set the
shutter speed.
If you have purchased a camera that has the above attributes, well, maybe
your definition and mine for inexpensive differ <g>.
For doing outdoor shooting, perhaps even with a flash fill, I'd probably go
with Kodachrome 64. Indoor, with mostly artificial light and flash, I'd
use Ektachrome 100 (at least until I could afford several hundred dollars
for the proper flash attachments).

Can someone recommend the type of SLIDE film I should use. This is my
first experience with slide film, got a new (inexpensive) camera that I can
dedicate totally to slide film. Hate to waste time using two cameras (not
