We lost our snow cover and had flooding in the gardens BUT I
was so surprised that the I. tectorum sent me by Mark Cook last
year is looking great...wish I could say the same for some of the
other '97 bearded acquisitions - everything is alive (whew) but we
are having a Zone 4-5 Spring with freeze-thaw conditions. :(
I. tectorum is planted on a slope...that may have saved it. Also.
the versicolor 'Kermesina' sent by Dennis Hager came up through
the snow last week and is growing like a weed. :) Of course, all the
beardless look OK including the species I. setosa,I chrysographes, etc.
We are (gulp) moving our household in May and I am still mildly
hysterical about moving the garden....still will be in Zone 3 just
30 miles east of here.
Cheers,
Ellen
