Jan,

I have successfully used pollen to cross dwarfs to talls without any
refrigeration. Sometimes up to 6 weeks.  I keep it stored in a film
canister in the dry pantry in the open.  This keeps the pollen dry and
fluffy.  If you choose to put it in the refrigerator, place some sort of
dessicant in the container with it to keep the pollen dry.  Wet or damp
pollen is useless.
