Iris in cold climates

Paul I sincerely hope you don't mean the mighty Murray river that forms the
border between N.S.W. and Victoria. It was still flowing last evening when
we went to check for an Easter campsite and we live only 6 kms away. This
reminds of a story I heard recently regarding a fishing competition much
further upstream toward Yarrawonga. A bloke told his fishing buddy that not
only should he bring his fishing tackle to the competition but to also
bring the water as well. This indicates the dire situation for the
irrigators and the citizens all the way along the Murray.

Now to an T.B.iris named after lots of water I must mention Victoria Falls
reblooming in one of the Australian Open Garden Scheme gardens I recently
visited in Sunraysia. A reliable rebloomer here every Autumn with lovely
tall well branched spikes of sky blue.

Our clumps of unguicularis are about to bloom. When we see the very first
blooms we give it a clipping with hedgeclippers to expose the flowers. From
now on it will be a cushion of blooms.

Happy Easter

Dianne in Red Cliffs. Overcast sky today but no rain predicted.
