Thanks, Ian. I appreciate it. It has been a disappointment, as you can
imagine.I think it must be either the summers, which are pretty ghastly, or
possibly the soil. Southern England is chalky as I recall and I'm acid, even
in the pots, if I don't lime pretty heavily. The plant is said to be native to
the Caucasus, and Transcaucasus, and Kashmir, but I don't have a clear picture
of what this actually involves, climate-wise, other than it is nicer than
Benares.
And thanks also Sara for the tip to speak with Mr. Niswonger. I had thought
I'd refrain from bothering him while he was still President, and bug him
later!
