In my 1978 copy of the World of Iris, Chapter 19 " Lesser known Iris "it =
was stated that "No Iris lover on the Pacific Coast or in England should =
be without the fragrant "Winter Blooming iris, I unguicularis often =
incorrectly called I. stylosa.
In my years of checking catalogs etc I have never ran across a =
mention of this Iris. I do seem to remember seeing a reference of it on =
the Iris-list recently but can't remember by whom or where it was grown.
Can anyone on the list give me some information about this species =
as to cultivation, how to obtain or anything else that would be helpful.
A BIG THANK YOU to every one of you who gave me the labeling hints. =
You were all very helpful and have solved my problem. I am really =
enjoying participating on you list and have found it most useful and =
entertaining. I have visited a lot of your websites and enjoyed your =
pictures and presentations. Keep them coming!

zelma@directcon.net zone 7 3100 elev. On a mountain top above =
Placerville where it is either raining, snowing, hailing etc but only a =
glimplse of the sun once in awhile, mostly to make up glorious sunsets. =
We have 5 more days coming up of the same. We haven't had snow on our =
Dogwoods yet, in fact they are not even blooming yet so we still have a =
lot of the above in our future.
I have daffodils, tulips and the small bulb plants in bloom but have =
seen nor felt nary a bloom bump yet in any of my Iris so I am very =
envious of all of you with lots of blooms or even those with a few. We =
will have our day however because the plants look very good and =
vigorous. Everything is a lot later for us this year and PATIENCE IS =
not one of my virtures..
