In this case, you would't have to =

go back as far as the grandparents.

OPALS FOR ETHEL was registered
as an OB-.  One parent was a TB, the
other was an arilbred.  Therefore, we
should expect limited fertility.  =


SATAN'S MISTRESS was registered as
a TB, although its pedigree computes
to RB-, because the hybridizer didn't think
it had enough aril characteristics.  One
parent was an arilbred and one was =

a TB so it, too, should have limited
fertility.

Crossing the two MIGHT produce a few
seedlings, but would more likely give
nothing.  =


I have not made this particular
cross, but I have obtained some
seedlings from similar crosses.  In
general, though, the odds are much
better if a flower of this type is crossed
with a fully fertile halfbred.
