Oh, Dennis... it doesn't DIE, but it's not worth keeping. Each rhizome has
only one bloom in it - after that, you may get increase... but no more bloom.
This is something that is not well known, especially among newer iris growers
(hell, I didn't know this myownself for years!), so every year we get some
'dead soldiers' at our sale.... rhizomes with a bloomstalk scar. But that's
our OWN fault, for not getting the message across.
If you have a single rhizome that blooms, and there's no increase... you
should say au revoir and go on with your life.
