Yesss!
Today was the early Dallas show... I took a few things to show. Friday night, I
cut THORNBIRD and BURGUNDY BUBBLES (both in bud, TB in "loose" bud, and BB in "tight"
bud) and set them in the bathroom while I took a shower, and cleaned out my vaporizer
using very hot water. I left the light on all night, and at 5 am in the morning,
Thornbird had 2 blooms, both with those *perfect* appendages on the cover of the
Oct. Bulletin (don't you all hate me now?), and Burgundy Bubbles opened up its terminal
bud, too. At 7 am, disaster struck. As I was getting into the car, my t-a-l-l stalk
of Thornbird brushed against the car...5 miles later I realized that one of the horns
had snapped and the end-half of it was hanging... (It's over 30 miles from my house
to the show...) Anyway, we (my father and I) got there, set up my stuff, (I did
eventually compete with the adults) and then we left. After lunch, my mother brought
me back to the show... Burgundy Bubbles won a blue ribbon, so did Fairy Goblin (AB),
Sterling Prince and Thornbird both won red ribbons. Not bad for my first show ;)
I stayed the whole time (of the actual show), handing out "People's Choice" ballots
and wish lists to fill out... It was really exciting! I also got to meet Ellen
Sullivan who is on our list; she judged the show. That was I think one of the big
highlights of my day. And I learned so much about how to transport irises, how to
display them, etc. If this was the *early* show I can't wait until the main show!
Now, all I have to do is write about Thursday's Fort Worth meeting...
