Barbara,
It is known that Iris pseudacorus and the Louisiana Irises will grow
here. The South American Walking Iris (Neomarica) will grow here if
protected on the coldest nights of the year. The Tiger Eye Iris (Trimezia)
will grow here and can take hard frosts unprotected.
I am doing some experimentation with some TB Irises as well as
Siberians and Japanese Irises, and several species, but it is too early to
try to interpret results. Robert Turley probably can help you with this.
I have lived here only a little over six months. I will let everyone
know what lives and what dies here.
Another good plant to consider is the African Iris (Dietes). It does
well here, and has a long bloom season.
