Jeff (untitled), Ellen and Arnold,
Thanks. This is likely to be the one. Jane definitely said it sounded as
if Ellen
knows the correct Mrs. Green as that lady is apparently of exceptionally
good
character. She did confirm there was late freeze damage on the irises and
the
stalks were very uneven in height, but the color sounds correct for LORD
JEFF's
description. She is still interested now in SIR JEFF, so, yes, Arnold, if
you
think of it please do ask about it.
More, she says her son-in-law will truly act like a Lord when he gets the
name
straight and in the interest of family protection on her side, wouldn't
mind in the
least acquiring a variety called LADY JANE to add to the collection. Can't
find
one in my stuff, although there are several ladies there. Warned her it
might be
an old variety with such a name (sounds to me like one that would have been
used
a while back) and this did not deter her at all since we are now into
lineage and
her daughter now may need the pedigree. Jane and Jeff (probably soon to be
aka
Lord Jeff in that family) have great fun with each other, so thought I'd
ask you folks
if anyone knows of cultivar LADY JANE.

Zone 7 - still needing rain, as usual here.
P.S. Do any of you mind if the postings are printed and mailed to the
daughter?
Jane was particularly pleased to read Ellen's post.
