Re: Bloom

It looks like a good year for the Iris im St Louis. Last year at this
time we got 4 inches of snow and a much reduced bloom. I was trying to
dig some irises to send back to Germany with a friend and had a very
hard time finding some without bloom stalks. ( yes I took them to the
Agriculture folks and got a fido for them) Also got a new member for our
club. Two birds with one stone? I was out yesterday checking the bloom
on the sdbs and Thrice Blessed, Baby Blessed, Willowmist, Little Pearl,
What Again, Blitz,Jewel Baby and Third Charm were all aglow. That
evening as I got on the computer to send the news it started lightening
so I figured I'd better wait till the storm passed. Then a news report
came on that we were under a tornado watch. A few minutes later the
sirens started sounding snd the winds came thru. I lost a chimney cap
and few bricks. Went out later and the irises weren't even touched . The
winds got up to 156 mph which is only a B or C scale tornado. My first
after 16 yrs. in Missouri. I think if I had my druthers I'd prefer
earthquakes. More used to them. We were quite lucky . A few miles away
there was a lot of damage to businesses, and homes. Nothing like what
those poor folks in the South suffered last week thank heavens.
