There are many great Irises being grown, but so far, based on Florida
experience, my favorite has to be:
Louisiana
CLYDE REDMOND
Arny, 1971
Blue, 30" tall. Spicy fragrance-slight.
This Iris has been blooming well for me. Also, it has been blooming
well in the flower bed of Jamie, a 12 year old girl who lives in Crystal
River. Oddly enough, Jamie got her start from me three years ago when she
lived a few blocks from me in Lexington, KY. She would walk by and admire
some Louisianas I had fairly close to the street. I knew she had some
flowers, so I offered her starts of CLYDE REDMOND, RHETT, BUXOM, and LA
PEROUSE. She brought them down with her. Three of the four bloomed for
her this year, while only CLYDE REDMOND bloomed for me.
Her main flower interests are Hibiscus, Oleanders, and Roses. She
also has a plant of Neomarica. Jamie is very much an outdoor person who
dislikes computers.
