Linda, I am so glad you survived all this with "just" dents in the car and
a sweaty horse! Have never been thru a tornadic storm cell---or an
earthquake---just piles and piles of snow! :-) Every place has its own
special charm, I guess.
I got my horse sweaty yesterday--went for a nice ride, on a route we hadn't
taken in over a year, and so many things were horribly different from last
time (to the horse, that is!) that she was a spooky, sweaty pile of nerves
by the time she could relax in her own barn again! An enjoyable afternoon,
for me, at least. Today it is supposed to pour rain all day, and it has
gotten off to a good start.
Am undecided whether to go to a movie--or do what I should do, which is
finish up an iris article for the regional rag and then go fight with the
lawn tractor some more. It is refusing to start; also has a flat tire. I
spent 2 hours tinkering and reading the manual yesterday--learned a lot,
but it still won't start. I suspect it's not getting fuel --drained the
tank and lines for the winter, now I'm not sure how to get things "juiced
up" again. Tried some starter fluid; that didn't do it. Killed the
battery, so have to recharge that again----such fun. Perhaps I will pour a
little gas in the spark plug hole---what do you think? If that doesn't
work, and I don't blow the damn thing up--guess I better think about
checking the spark....Shit---I could easily do without all this mechanical
crappola. I don't know enough and I keep losing my nuts and bolts..... :-)
I got to read your interesting article in the Region 7 newsletter--looks
like you are very active in your group. Great! It was nice of Julie to
send me a newsletter, even tho I didn't get to the Potluck--how was that,
by the way? I'll have to send in $ for a subscription so I can sort of
keep up with your doin's. Am certainly beginning to look forward to the
National in 2002! You have GOT to go to that one!
Hope not too many of your irises got seriously bombed by the hail. Better
weather ahead--let's hope!
Dorothy
