Dennis,
     It looks like the Iris Borers prefer the large, fat rhizomes of the
Tall Bearded Irises.  They will on occasion attack other types, with a Iris
pseudacorus being one of them.  
     Cygon is nasty stuff, so I hesitate to recommend its use at all.  I
would especially refrain from spraying Iris types that show no sign of Iris
Borer damage, which shows up as notches taken out of the leaves.
