rare Irises

Previous, I identified the incomplete web site for the IUCN Red List of
Threatened Plants and I also found a published copy of the list. It
contains 53 species listed alphabetically. I have just re-organized
that list taxonomically and compared it with the BIS handbook. I think
that 53 drops to 46, over half of which are Oncocylus irises. I have
grave doubts about the accuracy of the list because it fails to mention
species that Jim Waddick has identified as threatened in North America
and it is very weak on information from the south eastern reaches of the
old USSR.

If anyone wishes to have a copy of the list, with my comments, please
e-mail me off line and I will send it. It is 3 pages so too long to put
on the iris-l. When you e-mail, mention the word processing format with
which you are comfortable.
