Hi everyone.
Well, if I can say anything about the Fort Worth Show...theme "Iris in the News",
I can say that it was...interesting. I took one bloomstalk to the show (Grand Style;
Byers '96) and was clerking for the group of judges who judged it. Blue Ribbon!
My artistic design titled "Garfield Loves Lasagne" won a red ribbon in its division
(Comics) with 97 points. The Design Sweepstakes winner received 99 points, so I
think I did pretty well! I can't really remember specifics as I was preoccupied
with this spiderbite on my right elbow that had swollen to the size of a kiwifruit,
and given my whole right arm an unhealthy red glow. So, about 30 minutes after the
show actually started, my mom picked me up and we got to spend the rest of Saturday
afternoon in the Emergency Room. (Thanks to the antihistamines, the swelling has
gone down considerably, and it doesn't even hurt anymore.) The Queen Of Show was
an LA: Kelley's Choice. I heard that Linda Thornbrugh (of our own iris-l) won Queen
of Show at the (second) Dallas Show the next day, but I slept through Sunday...and
Monday...and Tuesday. Also, I found out that our very own Diana Winship (Mikesmom)
won best Spuria at the Dallas show.
I know that this kinda went into OT territory, but the Emergency Room and the Show
are forever linked in my mind now.
