Dennis, 
     Here, they recommend growing them in part shade.  In the north, the
sun angle is much weaker, and that is why they have to be grown in a sunny
window.  What is the coldest winter temperature that could be expected in
Rosamond, and, is there shade, especially during the hottest time of the
day?
