The talk about deterrents
for mice and voles reminded me of the hint we got from a commercial herb
gardener at the Minneapolis Home and Garden show a month or so ago. She
said that she keeps her lady bug population happy after they've devoured the
current supply of aphids by scattering around pieces of Tootsie Roll. The
ladybugs love it and don't fly away to look for some new supply of aphids, so
they stick around and keep that garden clean. Cheap price to
pay.
