Not to sound peevish, and heaven knows it is good to see SOMETHING on bearded
irises in any of these rags, but did you really think it was all that good,
Bill? I thought it was pretty thin. Very nice layout and pictures, however,
with a darling if somewhat pornographic closeup shot of the heart of an iris
bloom with all the parts labled nicely. Looks like an historic iris, it does,
with that deliciously noisy haft----so irisy those little stripes and just
think how hard people have tried to eliminate them----and that velvetyness
and that enchanting coral chenille beard! There is a nice bit at the end of
the mag on Ogata Korin's famous and very wonderful gold and irises folding
screen, and a nice article on Roberto Burle Marx, than whom few garden
designers were more innovative.
