Re: OT:Gurney's

Gurney's used to be a great, family-owned company in Yankton, S.D. I went there annually for over 20 years. Then they were bought out by a conglomerate, ITT, more recently re-sold to local ownership, and a year or so ago were bought by Foster & Gallagher, which closed down the over-100 year old operation in Yankton and moved the once-respected company to a location in Grand Rapids, MI, next to another of F & G's companies, the infamous Michigan Bulb Co. The history of Henry Fields more or less parallels that of Gurney's. Now it seems the whole shebang has gone down the tubes. It's a shame this is the fate of companies like these. I can't help wondering if in all these corporate shenanigans there are a few people profiteering like mad.
