Donna, my Naked Ladies (along with some Spring bulbs) are planted under and
around some lilac and viburnum shrubs and also some peony bushes. I had
iris there at one time but found I was chopping into and ruining too many of
the bulbs and other roots when I planted or divided the iris. This is on the
west side of our house and it gets very little supplemental water, maybe
once a month a good soak because of the bulbs. The shrubs tend to shade the
ground so it isn't full baking hot sun all day. I have found that the Naked
Ladies do not like to be moved and the iris do so I don't consider them to
be good companion plants for me. I have wondered about trying some arils or
arilbreds in that area but then seems like I read they like to be moved and
reset fairly often too. Any thoughts on that?
Re: your P.S: That's a really good point. Sorry for any offense. I had
considered asking for a change of subject line for any replies but didn't
quite know how or what...so took an easy way out. I do read and value most
opinions and views from folks here on the list and tend to read
(compulsively) every post. Altho, after a few really hard hot days in the
garden and to retrieve sooo many messages, I was tired and testy and that
was quite a task! Again, I'm sorry if that sounded pretty harsh.
