Re: TB: good pinks - Magical Encounter

Chad, I planted Magical Encounter last year and I love the color. I got several crosses from it. It is fertile both ways. Unfortunately it has only made two increases, and they look as though they might pineapple. I hope not. I won't know for sure until next spring.

Subject: [iris-talk] TB: good pinks - Magical Encounter

On the thread about good pinks. I am trying Magical Encounter this
year after catching a chance glimpse of it in Joe Ghio's fields 2 years ago
(we were "lost", while trying to visit Bill Maryott) The Schreiner catalog
description says it may throw an occasional summer bloom - though they do
not use the term rebloom. Anybody out there grow this one ?

To date my best/favorite pinks are Valentines Day and Katie Pie.
Have Happenstance and Pink Champagne but still too early to call. Best Pink
rebloomer is Mystery Blush, but it is a very pale pink.... Winning Edge is a
peach pink plicata with incredible flowers, but it's always missing a branch
which is OK for the garden but not for show.
