Dear Nancy,
Yes, I leave the rhizhome coated with the soap. Since it is jelly like it will cling a long time and give residual protection. In my garden I had one planted last year try to rot recently. I squirted some of the soap directly onto the spot and it appears to have stopped it. I am very pleased with this soap.
Keep us posted.

Thanks so Much Vernon, It seems Missouri is a real
killer when it comes to heat and humidity. I dug
around all the plants and watered with the mild bleach
solution. I think I also read about the
anti-bacterial soap in the AIS bullentin. Do you
leave the soap on the rhizome when you plant it? It
is probably too late to coat the ones that are already
showing rot from last weekends planting.
Today is our iris auction and I know a few more
additions will be added to our collection...I will
give it a try!!!
Again thank you
Nancy
