Re: HYB: pod-setting technique


Linda,

Wow!  I thought my 280-some crosses were a lot!  But my technique was 
so much better this year than last that I was suprised so few took.  
30-some, though many of those I really wanted.  

I wondered whether my not paying attention to that necessary shine on 
the pod parent made the difference, although I tried to always make 
the cross on the first day of bloom.

I also wondered whether the tiny black mites that appeared on my 
blooms this year lessened the potency of the pollen.  They didn't 
destroy it physically, and I kindof ignored them, but maybe...  I 
never had such things on my irises before.  Anyone know what they are?
