I have some Candy Lilies [Iris Family: X Pardancanda norrissii] that I
have been growing. Some of the plants, which were grown from Christy
Hensler's seed, have been doing well in a partly shaded location in the frost
pocket. Those I will leave be.
However, in the summer of 1998, I got a couple Candy Lilies from a
market in Gainsville, FL. Those did not do well in the ground. I tried them
in a couple places, and they continued to decline. Last year, I finally dug
up what was left, and put each piece in a separate pot. There are a total of
three pots. Those Candy Lilies have responded favorably to being in the
pots, filled with a high quality potting mix from Dinkin's Store in
Dunnellon, FL. Now, those plants are large enough that they will have to be
moved into larger containers.
In writing this, I have been wondering if anyone else has tried growing
Candy Lilies in pots, and if so, what were the results?
