Hi John-
Thanks for info., especially re. agricultural gypsum. The first load
of fill dirt I received was loaded with pcs. of alkalie...iris all had a
"Help" sign hanging on them. I dug out complete bed, then layered with
gypsum (little pebbled stuff), bags of compost, the superphosphate and
alfalfa pellets...and ya...real dirt! It all seemed to do the trick.
Someone posted re. using the antibacterial soap & that it was working.
However, they didn't say if they also used the clorox bleach. I used the
bleach solution - for 30 min. - and also added Daconil to it...didn't find
any rot this spring, but lost some of the rhizomes...maybe planted too late
for this climate...maybe they just didn't like it here...maybe my nose was
twitched in the wrong direction....:>)
My son went after the soap this evening...64 oz. - $8.00...(only one
less iris). Sun. dug 50 iris from a friend...several with rot...so think
I'll do the bleach solution, dry, dip in the soap, then sprinkle on some of
the sulphur....(THREE is the magic number, right?)
I've hooted & hollered about my OR High Desert climate, but after
reading of all the devastation due to a myriad of things in other climates I
think I best be saying thankful prayers...at least until we hit the 20 Below
Zero mark!
P.S. You do a GREAT job...TRIX for breakfast???
