RE: Re: CULT: measuring pH (was Lowering pH)

Hi Linda, I use a meter manufactured by the Hanna Company. It's small,
battery operated and very accurate (I had a comparison test done with my
soil science lab). I don't remember how much it cost, but I don't remember
it being outrageous. You can buy solutions with 4.0 pH, 7.0 pH and 10.0 pH
to check and adjust the calibration. You then make a slurry of soil with
deionized water and pop it in. We have naturally acidic soil but irrigate
with very high pH water so we have to check often and I've been very happy
with it. I bought it at a local company here, but I'm sure you can find it
on the net.

Anybody know of a reliable, relatively inexpensive, reusable soil pH
meter? I had a piece of junk that was supposed to measure pH that was
worthless, & would like to try again.

Greg, others, what do you use to measure soil & water pH?
