Margie; Much has been written on the use of nematodes. here is a site:
http://www.agnr.umd.edu/ipmnet/98-2nmn2.htm
by the individual who studied the borer and the use of nematodes
under an AIS grant. The Canadian Iris Soc. had an excellent article
incorporating some of the grant study. Here is the CIS web page
address: www.members.home.net/cdn-iris
Bottom line is which is more reliable. From what I have read the
success rates under "ideal conditions" match that of cygon. The key
is ideal conditions.
Merit is a systemic and I would say that earthworm kill would be
neglible. Cygon on the other hand would kill.
