Kelly, I too grew HI in El Paso and it bloomed the first year. Like Mark said, it's much prettier than described. However, for me, in this location, it showed little increase. I dug it today and am moving it to where it might be happier.

You may would like to try HI (Byers, 1990.) It is an Intermediate
Bearded, is much prettier than described, and is fragrant. I grew it in KY,
and it was great there. Sutton has it for $2.00 in their catalog.
